The Reliance Rack Actuator is a good example of a number of standard components integrated together in to a small sub-assembly to provide a reliable actuation system. The Rack Actuator comprises of a Cool Muscle motor coupled with a modified standard pinion and a standard rack in a bespoke housing providing predictable, reliable performance. After successful integration into a number of applications Reliance Precision Mechatronics has designed a range of standard rack actuator assemblies, multiple variations are now available developing peak forces up to 150N and speeds of up to 300mm/s with both closed loop integrated motors and standard stepper motors.

When used in conjunction with the Reliance Cool Muscle Motors, the Reliance Rack Actuators can work in sequence with each other to produce circles, ellipses and complex arc motions or in a daisy chain network in pick and place applications. With this motor the Rack Actuator can be safely operated entirely on its own or communicate via RS232, RS484, Ethernet, Modbus, CanOpen and Profibus, driving from its own memory banks or dynamically from a PC or an HMI.
